Grand Prix Manila 2010

May 25, 2010

Less than a month from today, Manila Philippines will host it’s leg of the 2010 Magic grand prix circuit. Complete details can be seen here.

For foreign players travelling to Manila for the first time. I do hope this entry will help you move around the metro. If I was a foreigner, travelling to Manila for this grand prix where would I stay? I would suggest this newly furnished hotel located approximately 30-60 minutes away from the tourney site. You can check you the details right here. All the details are there, and if you haven’t booked your hotels for this trip, I would suggest that place. It is clean and prices are reasonable. It is located near a business district and a mall (Robinsons Pioneer). Just be reminded that at the date of the event, to leave your hotel early as Manila traffic is VERY, very unpredictable.

Details about the tourney site, SMX Convention Center can be seen here. The site is strategically located at the heart of the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City, Philippines. Dub as the World’s forth largest mall. Yup, and the Philippines also has the SECOND largest mall in the world based from here. Not bad for a third world country huh!?

The SMX Convention Center is five kilometers away from the domestic and international airports. The Manila Bay seaport, world-famous for its picturesque sunset, is a mere fifteen-minute drive from the facility.

If you have free time, you can do what Hall of Famer Raphael Levy did back on 2008. He explored other parts of the country. Specifically the white sand beaches in Bohol. There you have it, I do hope this post was of a help. I will be at the event with LOTS of cards for sale, so if your reading this and your interested lemme know. I have twitter, message me there and you can visit my eBay store for cards you need.

Why I still dont have a Facebook account

May 17, 2010

Over the weekend, I met with some friends who I haven’t seen in a month or two. Lo and behold – 2 of my friends are getting hitched. You know why I wasn’t updated? Because I ain’t got no Facebook account y’all!

Yes, ever since facebook was invented by Mark Zuckerberg (one of the youngest billionaires today), creating an account for this pop social networking site hasn’t crossed my mind yet. I maintain an ebay store (ehem!) and that munches most of my time I find facebook counter productive mainly because, I noticed that one bad Filipino trait is gossiping about other peoples lives. I mean, get a life, dude!. I also found a LOT of things to do online aside from facebook  that are more essential and more productive.

But hey, I heard a quote from somewhere that the only constant thing in this world is change. And that change is needed because if you remain stagnant, mosquitoes will grow on you or something like that. So I am not closing my door to facebook as it is a tool to promote my blog and i am hoping to inspire others to have different outlook on things – things that really matter. I have a twitter account, though.

So.. Where will LBJ be next season??

May 14, 2010

We just witnessed the Boston Celtics eliminate the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of this years playoffs. You just have to feel the pain for Lebron James. Year after year of heart breaking playoff loss. Makes me wonder, LBJ is probably the most gifted athlete we have ever seen but his heart and will is always in question. He has the power of Karl Malone and the speed of Michael Jordan but yet, year seven into his career he has zero to none championship ring. He has indeed won back to back MVP awards but the MVP is nothing without the ring. The basketball world will never stop comparing LBJ to Kobe, and this season’s playoffs is never an exception. Banged up Kobe has a broken finger, sprained ankle, back spasms but has 4 straight 30 pt + games…. While Lebron has a little elbow bump and plays like sh*t and crys.

This summer will be the most exciting free agent market in league history. Some of the BIGGEST names and I mean BIG will be swapping teams. Top names are: Lebron, Wade, Bosh and Amare. I will make a fearless forecast on where LBJ will land this summer. Experts from ESPN thinks it’ll be either New York, Chicago or New Jersey.

If there was a tie in the election- Flip it!

May 12, 2010

Interesting enough. Iif there was a tie in the election, under Philippine law the winner is to be decided by drawing of lots or by a toss of a coin. Has it happened before? Apparently it did, see here:
Coin toss decides Philippine poll

Two candidates in the Philippines who got the same number of votes in a local election have settled the issue of who won by tossing a coin.

Bryan Byrd Bellang and Benjamin Ngeteg tied for the last of eight council seats in Bontoc, a town some 280km (175 miles) north of Manila.

They agreed to the coin toss, set down in local election rules. Mr Bellang called heads and won the seat.

Crowds in the town hall clapped as the two men shook hands after the result.

“I asked them if they wanted to break the tie by tossing a coin or drawing lots, and somebody in the crowd wondered if I was cracking a joke,” election supervisor Mary Umaming told the Associated Press news agency.

“I said those options were in the rules, and they agreed to flip a coin.”

Provincial elections supervisor Dennis Dimalnat said that the two candidates had set a refreshing example.

“I hope others would see the beauty of this kind of peaceful resolution,” he told AP.

Nationwide, Monday’s local polls were marred by violence. In total, about 87,000 candidates were contesting nearly 18,000 positions.

Police said that dozens of people died over the three-month election period and at least three people were killed on polling day itself. Observers in some areas spoke of voter intimidation and electoral fraud.

To Willie Revillame, please resign and never come back….

May 5, 2010

Newsflash y’all! Hottest showbiz news at the moment, Willie Revillame versus Jobert Sucaldito. Round one, fight!! Internet forums are going nuts about this issue. The full story can be read here and the video is here.

I would just like to say that, in my humble opinion Mr. Willie Revillame is the biggest tool in dumbing down Filipinos. I personally cant stand a second of watching Wowowee. He makes the most stupid jokes, immature comment and the dumbest remarks. I guess that is the reason that in the recent SWS survey. Majority of Filipinos will not vote on a politician that he endorses. After thoroughly reading comments from Yahoo Philippines. I can’t seem to find anyone defending Mr. Revillame, poor sir.
To Willie Revillame, please resign and never come back…. The Filipino people will be a LOT better without you sir.
